The food and beverage industry encompasses all companies involved in the processing, preparation, packaging and distribution of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). This course provides an introduction to all key aspects of the industry including licensing, health and safety, food hygiene, allergen awareness and equality and diversity.

A designated premises supervisor (DPS) is the person who has day-to-day responsibility for the running of the business. All businesses and organisations selling or supplying alcohol, except members clubs and certain community premises must have a designated premises supervisor.

There is a legal responsibility for all food handlers to ensure that food provided and sold to consumers is safe for them to eat.  This is even more so important when it comes to the subject of food allergies; where food handlers are required to have knowledge of allergens and provide accurate allergen information for all food that they sell. This course covers allthe requirements of the Food Labelling Regulations 1996 and the European Provision of Food Information to Consumers Regulation 2o11.

Our Fire Safety Training course has been developed to raise awareness of potential fire risks within your venue. In order to minise the potential risk of fire in the workplace it is essential that everyone is aware of the common causes of fire and the appropriate actions required in the event of a fire, including safe exit from the scene.

The law requires all businesses to “adequately control exposure to materials in the workplace that cause ill health”. This means that they will have to identify which harmful substances may be present in the workplace; decide how workers might be exposed to them and be harmed; look at what measures are already in place and decide whether they are enough; and provide information, instruction and training.

It is a recomendation that all premises selling alcohol and other age restricted products should provide sufficient training to allow staff to gain the sufficient knowledge of age restricted products and strategies to use to assist in age verification and where necessary the refusal of service or sale to customers that are not of the required age to make a legal purchase. This course will identify a wide range of restricted products not just alcohol and tobacco. We will explain why certain products are restricted and what harm can result in these products being sold to children or young people.

The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 puts duties and obligations on employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises (the Responsible Person) to report certain serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases and specified dangerous occurrences (near misses). This course has been designed to cover the obligations of RIDDOR, what needs reporting and how reporting in-line with RIDDOR should be performed.
